If I don’t add my SCCM computer to the local Administrators group in the SQL server, I will be prompted with a failure “Site Server computer account administrative rights failed”. I have not encountered point 1 to point 8 before, it is very new to me □ I am very green with installing SQL Server 2008 R2, so I only got to familiarize myself on how SQL servers talk with SCCM servers. Add in your SCCM computer name and click on OK Go to Start > Edit local users and groups> Groups > AdministratorsĨ. Created a random file, named it download.udl, I used this to test see if my SCCM server is able to reach the remote Database server.ħ. I read online that UDP 1434 needed to be added to the firewall as well so I did that.Ħ. Enable Remote Access in SQL Server Management Studioĥ. Enable TCPIP in SQL Server Configuration ManagerĤ. Added firewall port 40 to Windows Advanced Firewallģ. Installed SQL Server 2008 R2 + SP1 + CU6 on another VM.Ģ. Took me a few hours of googling and doing trial and error.ġ. Not being familar on how SQL talks to another remote server, I decided to try to get my hands dirty to try to see if I can build it up myself. The SCCM 2012 reporting feature will go to a remote database server located with the rest of the other databases were kept and stored. Why I have separated these three when I could have fit all into one VM is because I received word that my live deployment will consist of a few separate servers and was tasked to write down documented steps on building an AD server to configuring an SCCM 2012 server.
